The early access of Dune: Awakening has begun, allowing players who purchased the deluxe and ultimate editions of the game, for €69.99 and €89.99 respectively, to experience the sands of Arrakis over the next five days. In its first hours, the title has attracted nearly 100,000 players, who have jumped into building bases, traversing the desert on speeders, and evading the feared sandworms, suggesting a strong start for the game.
Dune: Awakening is a game that has already taken the world by storm even before its release
The official launch is scheduled for June 10, at which point those who purchased the base edition for €49.99 will finally be able to join the adventure. This expanded launch could bring the number of players to even more impressive figures, although it is impossible to predict with certainty how many will join.
However, the start has not been without problems. Players have reported various issues, including game crashes, performance problems, and difficulties with the servers. Some users have experienced the infamous error where the server browser showed that no servers were available. Funcom, the game’s developer, has acknowledged these issues and has promised fixes through its Discord channel.
The current rating of Dune: Awakening on Steam is Mixed, fluctuating between Mixed and Mostly Negative, largely influenced by reviews from those facing connection issues. It is common for affected players to be the first to leave negative comments, while those who enjoy the experience tend to keep playing without interrupting their fun.
With the arrival of the weekend and the official launch in sight, more updates and improvements are expected. Players venturing into the dunes must stay alert, as the dangers of Arrakis are no joke.
