Meta has launched “Imagine”, a real-time artificial intelligence image generation feature for WhatsApp users in the United States. Currently in beta phase, this innovative feature allows users to see how an image evolves as they add more details about what they want to create while composing a text message in a chat with Meta AI, the company’s new chatbot.
Users with access to this feature can generate images using the Imagine command. For example, by typing “Imagine a soccer match on Mars”, the generated image will quickly transform from a conventional soccer player to showing a soccer field in a Martian setting, offering a unique and creative visual experience.
The engine behind this feature is Llama 3, the new model by Meta launched this Thursday, which has been enhanced to produce images with superior clarity and quality, as well as to interpret and render text more effectively. In addition to generating static images, Meta AI has the ability to animate any image provided by the user, turning it into a GIF that can be easily shared with friends and family.

This functionality is not limited exclusively to WhatsApp, but is also available through the web version of Meta AI, expanding its reach beyond the instant messaging app. This release represents a significant step in the deployment of Meta’s artificial intelligence capabilities across all its platforms, including WhatsApp, Instagram, Facebook, and Messenger.
The main objective of this initiative is to offer users a more immersive and personalized experience in their digital interactions. The ability to generate real-time images based on the context of conversations would not only enrich visual communication, but also foster creativity and individual expression. Additionally, this feature could have practical applications in various areas, such as education and entertainment.
